PlayStation 3 Blu Wave Remote customer reviews:

Cheapest option to control PS3 through a universal remote This is the cheapest option right now to control your PS3 with pretty much any IR remote, I got it to work with a Logitech 550 Harmony and with a universal Sony remote(RM-VL600) which isn't an expensive universal learning remote. The only problem you can't turn on the system with the included remote or any IR remote, but the only other option which converts bluetooth (which PS3 uses) to IR is way too expensive. You can map any PS3 button to a learning remote with this so you can navigate the ps3 menu with this(photos/music/movies/web)to the shutoff option. There is a problem of it taking over controller port1 no matter where you plug it in every time it starts up, but it can be overcome by just reassigning the controller in the games that need your controller to be in port 1 in accessories before starting that game, minor annoyance but only some games need that to be done. If this had the ability to turn on the PS3 it would have got 5 stars but that is a problem with sony choosing to going with bluetooth.
Its a great add-on to your Universal Remote (Harmony) I dont use the remote control provided. I use the adaptor only to sync with my Harmony Universal Remote with PS3. This is absolutely a necessary add-on for Harmony remote users who wants to control BR playback on your PS3. I almost dumped my Harmony remote before I found this product. I hate to use lot of remotes at the same time for watching a movie.
I highly recommend this product to all PS3 owners who wants to use universal remote control with their PS3.
What you are waiting for, order one online right now from Amazon... :)
Good Buy Bought this I think for like $7. It is an excellent buy for those looking not to spend to much. It connects on its own and works flawlessly. Recommend it to anyone who doesn't wana pay the $20+ for the Sony one.
Best PS3 Purchase Ever This is the best PS3 accessory I have purchase since I have had my PS3 in Mid 2008. I use it everyday of the week when I watch my blu ray movies. Best accessory purchase ever.
Happy I bought this product for the IR port, to be used with a Logitech Harmony 880 universal remote. I got exactly what I wanted - being able to use the 880 when watching movies with the PS3.
It worked immediately with the Harmony's online configuration, but I preferred to customize the buttons in a more logical way, e.g. assign the "Menu" button on the 880 to the PS3 controller's "Rectangle" button, etc.
Once done, the PS3 is now an equal citizen in my home-theater setup.
Only question is why I waited for several months - I should have bought this immediately with the PS3, as I recommend you do if you have or want to have a universal remote.
And to Sony, shame on you for not including IR in the PS3. You had several hardware versions, and had the time to fix. It's not even an expensive addition, so it's really just repeating negligence.
