They work fine on my 35mm Nikon Auto Focus cameras, however when using them own my new Nikon D40 DSLR they will only work in a manual focus mode. Since my camera came with a 18-55mm lens I decided to order the Nikon 55-200mm lens to cover the majority of photo situations I would encounter. The new lens is light and compact and like all Nikkor lenses, the quality is excellent. I ordered the VR version of the lens to increase image stabilization and limit any distortion while using the longer focal lengths of the lens. So far the picture quality is superb even at 200mm. Since going digital I decided to invest in new digital lenses for this camera. S.Tapper Reisterstown, MD Excelent service I received the lens in time and in very good conditions. I'm very happy with the transaction PP very good lens I bought this to compliment my kit 18-55mm lens. This lens delivers as expected. Nothing comparable out there for the price. However if you have the money, get the 18-200mm VR, it is the only lens you will ever need. Very good kit lens for Nikon I bought this for my son, who has a Nikon D40 with the 18-55 mm lens. He loves the lens and the ability to bring things closer to the camera. One of the best features is the anti-shake technology, which is necessary when you have the equivalence of a 300 mm lens at full zoom. The speed is a little slow for low-light work, but for the price - and it is a Nikon, after all - this is a great buy. Amazon had it for $200, which is two-thirds the street pricel. A++ A+ - I use this lens with my Nikon D40. The worst I can say for this is that the auto focus is slow in dim light. Other than that, I love this lens. Tips for low light - switch to manual focus.
