RLC-40 Red Light Changer Description
|
The RLC-40 Red Light Changer sends out a strong magnetic flux field, causing the sensor to "see" your motorcycle as if you were a large steel vehicle, inducing a signal in the pavement sensor loops, thereby triggering the traffic light to turn green. How does it work? The RLC-40 is a specially designed device which uses an extremely strong, patented Neodymium-Boron-Iron magnet to make a motorcycle visible to the traffic-sensor loops imbedded in the pavement at most traffic light intersections. These wire loops act like metal detectors and are designed to sense the metallic mass in an approaching vehicle, and to signal the traffic light to change from red to green, after a short delay. Unfortunately, most motorcycles don't have enough metal to set off the sensors, so the light doesn't "see" the motorcycle waiting at the red light. Mounted at the bottom of the motorcycle, the RLC-40, sends out a strong magnetic flux field, causing the sensor to "see" the motorcycle as a large steel vehicle, inducing a signal in the pavement sensor loops, thereby triggering the traffic light to turn green.

RLC-40 Red Light Changer customer reviews:
|
Piece of junk. Worthless. I bought it because of two stubborn red lights. They still sit there red and I have to wait for a car to come along to see it turn green. Don't buy this thing.
Nearly Useless This, or any other magnet will not trigger a loop traffic sensor. As the description says, they sense metal ... conductive metal to be more specific. Yes, this is a hunk of metal. The fact it's a magnet is immaterial, except you won't have to tape it to hold it in place, at least if you have an iron frame. Put it down real low on the bottom of your frame (close to the ground) and it MIGHT help, but so would a hunk of pig iron.
Works terrific for me! I just saw the other two reviews before writing mine and it really threw me off. I have 4 traffic signals just in my neighborhood alone that will not change to a green arrow even if I sit there all day!
I just took my bike out for a test ride. I went to all 4 intersections and all 4 quickly now change to a Green arrow in seconds of moving over the embedded wire.
I can't understand why these folks say it does not function. I'm sold on it!
By the way, the magnetic MUST BE directly over the wire, not in the middle of the wire loop (circle, square or diamond shape).
