It's nearly as soft as rabbit fur and doesn't shed. It doesn't say in the descript (unless I missed it) that it is 100% wool. So, when I saw the content on the actual tag of the item, it made sense why it was so soft. I recommend this to anyone who can't stand the seat belt rubbing on their neck. I'm thrilled with this, and I'm hard to please! Doesn't Shed! I have used others, but this one had the features I was looking for. It does not shed at all. I the velcro does not catch on my finest silks and nubby fabric suits. I'm ordering another! Just what I was looking for This protector does the job...my neck is no longer cut by the strap.
